Atlas and Shorline

A swift fox stood on the edge of the deck. Staring at the green water and purple grass

Colonel Winters strolled up next to the fox, looking at the land they had come to. "Good afternoon, lieutenant."

"Sir." He greated as he shifted the bulky MOPP4 gear he was wearing:

(It's a woman.)

"Are you ready to go to the shore? The rest of the team is ready."

(I thought you refered to an officer as Sir no matter the gender)

"Colonel, are these suits really necessary?" The fox asked as he adjusted it again. "Have you ever tried fighting in MOPP4?"

(For females you say ma'am.)

She raised an eyebrow. "You seem to be forgetting I am a chaplain. I have never fought before. However, you need the extra protection. If wherever we are is opposed to us, you can use all the help we can get."

The marine nodded and charged his M4. "I understand Ma'am. Are you going with the team?"

She nodded. "Yes. Even though I am not a combat role, I should still help any way I can."

"We're leaving soon." He said. "You should go down to the armory and get your own suit of MOPP 4 gear then. Or maybe you can get away with just the gas mask, I don't know." He gave her a friendly clap on the shoulder. "I'm excited to see what's out there."

She nodded. "I don't think they will be trying to kill me as much as you. After all, I will not be the one attacking them."

(You DO know what MOPP 4 gear is, right?)

Kris clicked his tongue. "Welp, see ya down there Ma'am." He saluted her headed towards the zodiac launch bay.

(OH. Yeah, we use different gear on navy ships, so I learned about different gear.)

She nodded and followed him down.

(I didn't even know there was different gear. I thought there was only one combat hazmat suit)

Down in the lauch bay the Chaplain was stopped by a major. "Sorry Colonel, can't let you go without some kinda hazard suit." He took the gas mask from his belt and handed it to her. "We know that there's air here, but we don't know if the plants on the shore are toxic. Better safe than sorry."

The fox got into the zodiac and settled down alongside the other marines. Most of them where equipped with M4a1s and M9s. One in the front and one in the back held M249 SAWs

(That's the thing. We don't wear combat hazmat suits, since we don't really go into combat. We have our own.)

She shrugged and put it on.

Matthew watched the Chaplin get in. It wasn't his job to judge an officer, but he didn't think the Chaplin should come. She would be more of a hindrance than a help.

"Ready op." One of the soldiers said as he started the engine.
